Arima is a project led by NDISCOVER,
a design foundry led in portugal.

NDISCOVER’s goal is to create high-quality fonts for professionals and enthusiasts. On their website, they state “In an ever growing market our focus is on creating distinct high-quality fonts that give designers the best tools to make their work stand out. We team up with designers and developers around the world to create typography of the finest quality.” (source: ndiscover.com/about)

Among the lead designers are Natanael Gama and Joanna Correia.

Natanael Gama is the founder of NDISCOVER and graduated from Graphic and Multimedia Design in 2009 at ESAD.CR where he first started to play with type design just for fun. His work has been used in brands such as Lego, Fifa, HBO, BBC, Blizzard and Netflix. He is a Typography Teacher at ESAD.CR, ETIC and online on Skillshare.

Portuguese type designer Joana Correia initially studied architecture in Porto where she graduated in 2003. In 2008 she decided to go back to studying and enrolled at the Graphic Design department of ESAD in Matosinhos, where she graduated in 2010. Since having completed an MA in Typeface Design at the University of Reading (UK) in 2011 Joana has been working as an independent type designer. She develops typefaces for various entities such as Google Fonts, FontYou and also develops her own designs. Her interest in the world’s linguistic systems lead her to design typefaces for the Devanagari writing system. Joana teaches type design at ESAD where she shares her love for letters with the students.

Other contributors to the project include Rosalie Wagner,David Crossland and crystaltype.
